Cold rooms are also used to store medicines and other products... The cold stops bacterial growth and slows down undesirable chemical reactions.
Depending on use and activity, cold rooms are classified into 2 categories: Cold positive: above 0°C (generally set at 3°C, but this varies depending on the food stored) Cold negative: below 0°C (generally set at -18°C, but can go lower).
